I made this cake for one of the homeschool moms here in Las Cruces. Their youth pastor loves Dr. Who, and this was his birthday cake.

Beautiful Art You Can Eat
Several years ago when I started decorating cakes, a friend told me that in the bakery business, the nicer the cake looks, the lower the quality of its taste. I made up my mind right then and there that I was going to make the neatest looking cakes I could that taste awesome. Almost everything I do, I use buttercream frosting--only using fondant and modeling chocolate as accent pieces as much as possible-- to improve the taste of each cake I make. I hope you enjoy looking at these delicious works of art as much as I enjoyed making them!

I am a stay at home mom and a self taught cake decorator. I am making a cake similar to this in January. I have some ideas, but I was wondering if you had any tips? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love that you aren't a fondant cake maker, I do all my cakes in buttercream as well. I think it takes more creativity and talent to make yummy beautiful fondant free (or almost) cakes like yours. Love the christmas tree cake
